Giga Pet and Furby

Every year at my Elementary School we would get a visit from Santa around Christmas time. He would bring gifts for all the students, our parents would also come and it would just be a really fun day. When I was in the third grade Santa brought along Giga Pets and Basketballs for the students. All of the girls were getting Giga Pets and all of the boys were getting basketballs. Lets just start by talking about how unfair that was. Girls were getting this very cool electronic pet, boys were getting this stupid inflatable piece of rubber. Anyway, It was my turn to see Santa. I walked my little third grade self up there and was BEYOND excited when Santa handed me a Giga Pet instead of a basketball!

My excitement lasted all of four seconds. Santa took the Giga Pet back and said "He doesn't want this, get him a ball" to his stupid Elf. The Elf then traded me the ball for the pet. I was pissed. I hated Santa and I hoped he died.

My disappointment followed me back to our classroom. When we got back to the room I noticed that this other girl, Kendra, was sitting at her desk frowning at her Giga Pet. So I went over and just casually asked her what was up. She told me that she didn't like the Giga Pet and that she wanted the basketball. We proceeded to trade toys. It was one of the most awesome things anyone has EVER done for me. The Giga Pet that I got was the cat (Compu Kitty). That electronic cat brought me hours and hours of enjoyment. I gave it baths and cleaned up its poop, and I fed it. It was so fun! My mom even got addicted to it and would 'baby sit' it for me sometimes.

I had that thing for the longest time. I'm not sure what happened to it, but it is still one of my all time favorite toys.

My second favorite toy as a kid was the Furby!

I don't remember how old I was when I got my first Furby. I do remember that I got it the same year that I got my gameboy color. (Which is another story all together.)
I ended up getting two furbys. My mom bought me the one thats pictured above, and I liked it so much she got me a second one for my birthday. (I couldn't find a picture of it, but It was white with a few brighter colors included. I can't really explain it.) I had so much fun with them, teaching them to talk. I'd put them by my bed at night time and wouldn't let myself fall asleep until they did. (Their snore was so cute!)

Anyway, these were two of my favorite toys and I have a lot of good memories when I think about them!

Kathy Griffin

I don't know if any of you know this, but I LOVE Kathy Griffin. (I even love her when she's making fun of Britney, which, for me, is saying something.) She recently spoke at about Prop 8 and Gay Marriage and I'm not going to share the video with you:

That's So Gay.

Student Teaching

This week I have been doing my observation clinical for my student teaching. This mainly consists of me going into a classroom and watching a teacher do her job. I also run errands for her. The whole point of this clinical is to get an idea of what it's going to be like for me after I become a teacher. The experience has been great, the woman I have been observing is a fantastic teacher and has made this experience enjoyable.

Today I will actually be standing up in front of a class and giving a lesson. It's not anything huge, just a refresher on subject verb agreement. I'm kind of nervous about it, but I think I'll do well! I have to give the lesson in about 10 mintues or so. Fingers crossed!

If U Seek Amy Video

Ok so, I really like it. Admittedly I was a bit underwhelmed the first time I watched it. I was expecting something over the top or whatever and that's not what I got.

I think she looks completely stunning in this video, and I have now decided that I love those shoes (I was on the fence up till now) and I like the dance moves.

I absolutely LOVE how they stick it to that lady from FOX News with the reporter woman in the video. It made me laugh.

Seeing Britney as the housewife and the way she moves and acts after changing her clothes with the pie and all, it makes me wish she'd go do an episode of Desperate Housewives. (Which I love btw)

Anyway, so after watching the video through a few (hundred) times I have decided that, even though It's not what I was expecting, I do really like it. I love the concept that she's two totally different when she's people behind closed doors when she's in the public eye.

I don't think that's shes saying "I'm a big slut who likes a good orgy when no ones looking" though.

I think the point is simply that what you see isn't always what you get?

EDIT: Ok, finally getting around to embedding this video.

American Idol

I find that I am very interested in American Idol this Season. I like the addition of the fourth judge. (I actually like her better than Randy) I also think they have some interesting contestants. Allison the wonderful 16 year old Rocker Chick is probably my favorite of all the females participating. Yes, Lil Rounds and Alexis Grace can both sing like there's no tomorrow but I just don't seem to like them much. Maybe they'll like blow me away with one of their song choices in the coming weeks. We'll see.

Now on to the real reason I'm posing this blog. Adam Lambert. I love him, I think he may be my favorite contestant from ANY of the seasons. (I know, I thought it would always be Carrie Underwood for me too, guess not) Before I rant about why I like him I'll take some time to talk about some of the other male contestants. Kris Allen is wonderfully cute and I like his voice. I hope he makes it at least to the top 10 so he'll get to go on the tour, but I don't see him winning it. One guy who I can see winning is Danny Gokey. The guy can sing (even though I don't think hes anywhere near as incredible as lot of people do) and he's got the whole dead wife sob story going for him. (I don't mean to sound insensitive about it, but you know it's true.) The other male contestant I feel deserves a mention is Scott Macintyre who has an OK voice and a vision problem (he's almost blind). He's another guy who the judges rave about but I just don't feel the same as they do.

Now, back to Adam. I just really like him. At first I wasn't sure that I would (and that made me sad because he's gay and I wanted to like him because of that). I hated his song choice of "I Can't Get No Satisfaction," actually, I hate that song no matter who is singing it. (Except for Britney of course, she can do no wrong.) Speaking of Britney, I'm bummed that Adam doesn't include her as one of his favorite female artists along with Xtina and Madonna. (See his Idol Contestant Page Here) Anyway, after tonights performance of "Black and White" by Michael Jackson I officially love Adam. He looked great, he sounded great, and the judges agreed. They gave him rave reviews.

Check out that performance and Paula's opinion:

I do worry that America will not vote for him because he's gay. Americans obviously still have a problem with gay people (you know, since we don't have all the same rights as straight people). Also, I worry that people WILL like him so much that they think he's going to be safe and fail to vote. (It's happened in the past, can you say Daughtry?)

Anyway, this season is going to be great. I have my fingers crossed for a Britney themed week like they did on the X-Factor in the UK.

Ritter Park

On Sunday when I came back to Marshall Adriene talked me into going to Ritter Park with her and John. Turns out, it was a lot of fun. The weather was really nice and there were lots of people there. We saw a lot of people walking dogs too. I'm not a huge dog person (yes, my family has 2 and I like them, but I don't like strange dogs) so that wasn't fun. We also saw a lot of ducks. Here's a video mash up of our trip.

All I Ever Wanted

Kelly Clarkson's newest album 'All I Ever Wanted' was released tonight so of course I bought it on itunes. Now, you should know that I did listen to this album in its entirety a couple weeks ago when it leaked onto the internet. I loved it then, and that's why I knew I wanted to fork over the 14 bucks for the CD on itunes.

My favorite songs from the album are "If I Can't Have You" "Long Shot" "Already Gone" "All I Ever Wanted" "Impossible" "Cry" and "My Life Would Suck Without You". I will probably learn to really love some of the other songs too, but as of now those are the ones I like best.

I don't really like "Save You" "I Do Not Hook Up" or "Whyyawannabringmedown" yet, and I don't see that changing. Sometimes I just know when I'm not gonna like a song.

You should all go out and by the album, it's pop music at its best. (With some rock thrown in as well lol)

Still Bored.

Friday went well. I went to Tolsia and got my business taken care of, it took all of 5 minutes and was over. Not surprising since I just had to get a couple of people to sign a form. Since then not much has been going on. My mom took me to Wal-Mart and bought me some new clothes (since I had none that were appropriate for a professional environment). Then we came home at the boredom set in. I went to bed at 10pm again, but this time I actually managed to sleep all night. I got woken up around noon by my annoying cousin Jennifer.

She came in with her three kids and sat on my bed and talked to me. I ignored them and pretended to sleep through it all. They left, but I was awake and couldn't fall back to sleep so I got up.

I spent the rest of the morning doing absolutely nothing. My cousins had taken over the television, my brother was on the internet, and no one else was home. I just sort of sat around waiting for something to happen. Nothing happened. Finally my mom came home and my cousins left. I decided to watch some TV. "The Birdcage" was on. I've seen it before, but I liked it so I decided I'd watch it again. My mom watched it with me, and she only made one negative remark about gay people ("We should set aside an island just for them."), which was amazing restraint for my mother.

My aunt came to visit. I love her to death. I can talk to her about pretty much anything and we usually have similar opinions about everything. We spent the whole time talking about random things (we haven't seen each other in 2 months, had some catching up to do) and she made me bluetooth her some ringtones for her phone. She just discovered bluetooth so it all made her very excited.

She left and I had dinner with my parents and one of my brothers. (My other brother is 19 now and NEVER home.) I then decided to get online. Its dialup so I can't do anything I want (like YouTube) but writing this blog has been a marvelous distraction.

I'm heading back to Huntington tomorrow. Can't wait!

Home Sweet Home?

This weekend I'm back in Wilsondale. (AKA Middle of Nowhere) I was actually really glad to see my mom, brother, and grandma when they came to pick me up. It has been two full months since I last went home to visit so I was actually (kinda) looking forward to this trip home. I talked to my dad on the phone earlier and he was in a good mood. He got a small raise at work.

Of course, the fun trip home turned not so fun when something on the radio brought up the gays. My mom launched into one of her rants about how she doesn't like gay people and blah blah blah. Then Britney came on the radio which got my mom started on the song 'If U Seek Amy' and how she hates it. The ride home gave me a headache.

It's things like this that keep me from telling her that I'm gay. Sometimes it seems like she'd handle the news fine (she wouldn't be ok with it, but she wouldn't disown me either). Then there are the times when it seems like the first thing she'd want to do would be to cry or something. Anyway, I'm getting more and more frustrated with having to pretend to be someone I'm not around her. (She only mentioned me getting a girlfriend like 4 times during the trip home.)

Now that I'm back at my house it makes me realize how much I like life in the city more. Don't get me wrong, this is where I grew up and there are a lot of good memories here, I just like it better in the city. I miss my stupid dorm room and my bed. I went to sleep at 10pm (there's nothing to do here, don't look at me like that.) and only slept for around 4 hours.

I'm leaving here in a couple hours to go back to my old High School so I can get this form signed to do my Level 1 Clinicals there. I'm looking forward to seeing my little brothers and cousins getting on the bus.

I find myself hoping that this weekend goes well. I'm sure that I'll enjoy spending time with my mom and dad as long as no one says the word gay.

Books!

Yesterday the book I've been waiting for FINALLY came in the mail. I was super excited (I'd been waiting to get my hands on this book for almost a month. The local bookstore didn't have it.) Anyway, I dragged myself through my classes and finally got to sit down and read it yesterday night. I finished the whole book. I kept telling myself to stop reading it so the experience would last, but that didn't work out. Ok so here are my SPOILER FREE thoughts.

The book is called 'Hero' and it's written by Perry Moore. Actually, before I start talking about the book let me talk about the author. He's kind of attractive, not like my ideal man or anything, but def. easy on the eyes. His name kind of annoys me, he's one of those "I have two last names" people, and that always bugs me for some reason. His boyfriends name is Hunter Hill, which I love. I've always wanted to date someone whose first and last names started with the same letter. Anyway, on to the book.

It was great. Who knew that all you had to do to get me interested in Super Heroes was to make one gay and have him as the main character. I loved the book, but I did have some issues with it. It was a bit predictable in a coupe places, and parts of it left me a tiny bit confused. Even with these parts I enjoyed the book. Perry Moore definitely referenced a lot of popular super heroes. Wonder Woman and Super Man were the two who he featured prominently(not the characters themselves, but characters who definitely were inspired by them.)

Yeah, I'd recommend this book to anyone. Loved it.

I actually went back to the bookstore today and bought another book. "Promises in Death" by JD Robb. If you haven't read the "In Death" series and you like cop books then you should go buy the first couple immediately.

I'm only 28 pages into this book and I can already tell that it's going to be one of my favorites. The emotions in the first 30 pages are written really well I think. (I've already cried once, go me.) Also, JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts) has introduced a new character (Ty Clipper) and he's gay! I REALLY REALLY hope he doesn't turn out to be the murderer because that would suck. Thus far there have been a few gay characters in the In Death series, but none of them have had reoccurring roles. They were around for one book, and then gone. Since Ty Clipper works in the police department with the rest of the characters who show up on a regular basis there's a chance he could be in future books if it doesn't turn out that he's the killer. (So far nothing points to it being him, but like I said, I'm barely 30 pages in.)

Ok yeah, so I decided to day would be a day for blogging about books.

Thanks for reading!

Britney Freaking Spears.

Today was FILLED with lots of Britney news. Her tour kicks off in New Orleans tomorrow and it's going to be freaking EPIC. Today Team Britney announced that Britney would be the official Candies spokesgirl for 2009. Along with this announcement was a 40 second video that contained some behind the scenes stuff that gave fans their first look at the Circus tour.

A few hours later Candies.com gave put up an extended version of that 40 second video which was 2 minutes long. In this 2 minutes you get to see Britney's Costumes and various set pieces from the Circus tour. Judging by the video this tour is going to rock. Seriously! I want to go so bad. Below is the full 2 minute tour preview and a video in which I give my reaction to it.

Along with this the opening video for the tour also leaked. The sound was not included (as far as I can tell) but Britney definitely shoots Perez Hilton with a crossbow. It made me happy, I hate Perez and was not glad when I heard he would be part of the tour. It was fun to see her take him down.

Along with all of this we also got to see some of the merchandise that will be included with the VIP tickets. There was this cool looking bag and some pins and a key chain.

Yeah, so today was Britneytastic. Tomorrow the tour actually kicks off and it's going to be soooo exciting.

Still no word on when they will premiere the 'If U Seek Amy' video.

Until Tomorrow!
